Gamepad/Joystick in Wine (Ubuntu 20.04)

Configuring a Joystick or Joypad for Wine in Ubuntu 20.04 is pretty simple.

Start by installing the joystick tools:

    sudo apt-get install joystick

If you have an analog controller it may need calibration:

    jscal -c /dev/input/js0

Save calibration to file:

    jscal -p /dev/input/js0 > joystick1.cal

To load calibration later just source the file:

    source joystick1.cal

Start by checking that you controller works as expected in Wine by running:

    wine control

This will bring up the Wine Control Panel.

Lauch your game

    wine mygame.exe

and locate the settings to map the controller.

Running Windows 3.1/95/98/XP Games in Linux

Most old Windows games that can't be run under Windows 10 will run well in modern Linux distributions like Ubuntu 20.04. You don't even need to bother with virtual machines like VirtualBox. All you need is Wine. Wine is an excellent Windows emulator that lets you run Windows application in Linux. Sounds complicated? Good new it is not! First you need to install Wine:

    sudo apt-get install wine

A nice feature is that you can run a game that was designed to run in full screen only in windowed mode. This is great if you want to record in OBS studio. To do this you need to run the Wine configuration tool. Start it by running:

    winecfg

Check Emulate a virtual desktop and press OK. This will make all Wine applications to run inside a window rather than on your Ubuntu desktop. To start a game just run:

    wine yourgame.exe

This will start you game in a new window. Most games will lock the mouse and keyboard inside this Window. To release it press Alt+Tab. If the game needs to be installed just run the installer with wine. The game can then be found in the Ubuntu Applications launcher. Happy gaming!

AIMOS KVM 4 Input (HDMI+USB)

Do you answer yes the questions below?

You have several computers and think that this is normal?

All your computers must be connected to the same screen?

They should use the same keyboard and mouse?

They can output HDMI/DVI (VGA or Displayport can be converted to HDMI with an adapter)?

It should be simple to switch computer?

Still reading? Good! This is THE thing for you! I have used mine for a few weeks now and it is the the best thing since sliced bread! Why? It works extremely well, it is compact, it has a solid metal case och looks nice. You can switch computer from the keyboard! I doesn't even need a power supply as it uses power from the connected computers. It has 2 additional USB 2.0 ports on the front.

I have connected it to a screen that has a resolution of 2560x1440@75Hz. My computers are running Ubuntu 20.04, Windows 10 and Windows XP. I have kept one input dedicated for temporary connections.  I use a USB Keyboard and Logitech wireless mouse.

Nice green LEDs.They not as inensive as the camera make them.

Compact design that fits nice on the desk.

Buu your AIMOS KVM 4 on Banggood! I use an AKKO 3068 Keyboard. It is also a highly recommend product.

So is Bangood realy legit and safe?

I have purchased ALOT from Bangood and it has worked well. A few times I have asked questions to their support and they responded within a day and was help full. A few times I have had to pay custom duties (I opt for "Tariff Insurance") after sending the receipt I was refunded for the cost. I always skip the "Shipping Insurance" as it seem pretty pointless. Dont forget to use any Points or discounts!
